Broughton secures Swiss Re. Gherkin access
London's newest and arguably most distinctive landmark, the Swiss Re building, is one of a growing number of prestige sites that has opted for an entrance control system from UK manufacturer Broughton Controls.
The entrance control solution provided by Broughton consists of two 350mm-lift blocker units with traffic light controls and push button operation from the central security office.
Sales director Barry Dickman explains the choice of equipment for the site. "In this situation, the blocker units provide a greater deterrent than standard barrier systems and also have a minimal impact on the external appearance of a building with very high design values.
Demand for our blocker systems has seen a huge increase in recent years with the growing threat of terrorism around the world and Broughton has responded by extending its range to include high impact and high lift blockers, which offer the best possible degree of protection from unauthorised vehicle access, including deliberate, direct attack.
Our latest high-lift, high-impact systems now protect a vast number of installations, embassies and accommodation compounds of International companies operating in the Middle East , with further units employed at crossing points along the Kuwait - Iraq border."
With ISO 9001:2000 accreditation covering all operations, Broughton Controls provides design, manufacturing, installation and maintenance of a wide range of vehicular and pedestrian entrance control systems in the UK and overseas. Specialising in high security, prestige and sports stadia locations, Broughton has created entrance control solutions for Jaguar, the Commonwealth Games Stadium, Daimler Chrysler and Manchester United in addition to ports, police stations and MOD sites throughout the country.
