National response now available for entrance control equipment maintenance and repair.
For the first time in the UK, there is now a single independent specialist with the ability to provide service and repair of entrance control equipment on a nationwide scale.
Entrance control solutions provider Broughton Controls has set up a one-stop service, maintenance and parts facility for all makes and models of entrance control equipment in use across the UK.
The management and engineering team has been pulled together from a number of major entrance control equipment manufacturers and provides a strong base of entrance control systems experience, across a broad product range.
“All our engineering staff have a background of specialist experience in entrance control systems. This sets us apart from the existing maintenance companies who are often general electrical contractors”. Explains Jon Broughton, service contracts director. “With entrance control equipment repair it is more than simply fixing a physical problem, there are often safety implications to consider as well as equipment re-calibration and certification. To be carried out correctly these elements need an intimate knowledge of entrance control operational requirements, particularly with the increasing amount of health and safety legislation now coming into force in this area.”
By carrying a comprehensive range of parts, testing and calibration equipment on-board each one of its liveried service vehicles, the company aims to provide a rapid response service for emergency breakdowns, with a target of over 85% of calls being fixed on the first visit. The company also has a central spares holding covering equipment models up to 20 years old.
This is only half the story however, as Jon Broughton explains. “Providing a fast response repair service is all very well, but our hope is to educate site owners to invest in preventative maintenance solutions. Manufacturers’ statistics show that over 90% of breakdowns on entrance control systems can be prevented by correct, regular maintenance. The concept is no different to servicing a car. If you don’t invest a little every now and then, you run the risk of a major failure, which can be inconvenient, costly and dangerous.”
The division is off to a flying start and has already built an impressive Bluechip client list that includes Arsenal FC, DaimlerChrysler, British Petroleum, Tesco, and United Utilities. The company will also act as sole service agent for entrance control manufacturers in the CRH group including Adronit, Heras and Magnetic in addition to providing a certified and guaranteed repair service on all other major manufacturers’ product currently on the UK market.
