BROUGHTON PROVIDES HIGH SECURITY ACCESS SOLUTION FOR DISTRIBUTION AND LOGISTICS INDUSTRY
Entrance control specialist Broughton Controls has developed a high-traffic, high security vehicle entrance control solution for busy industrial and logistics sites.
Logistics sites such as supermarket distribution depots, postal and courier shipping hubs and oil refineries operate on a 24/7 basis and require careful control of vehicle access to protect the high value and high risk material on site. Managing vehicle access and site security is often done by contract security personnel on manned access points. The new system developed by Broughton will provide enhanced site security and significant cost savings by reducing the required site manning levels.
With the latest Broughton system, full height pedestrian turnstiles are used to monitor and control pedestrian access with a digital key pad exit control logging visitor exit time and details. Vehicle access is controlled by high security barriers fitted with anti-pedestrian skirts above and below the barrier arm. These heavy duty units provide access via a series of controlled lanes.
Long range vehicle tagging identification permits rapid entry with a log of all movements for the client’s own vehicles, whilst video intercom is used to provide image capture and verbal instruction of third party visiting drivers. Site security management can be assisted by CCTV cover of all vehicle lanes and the site perimeter if required, whilst dedicated emergency entry lanes can be included to permit emergency vehicle entry.
“We have been working with clients such as TNT and Tesco for over 10 years now and our close relationship has allowed us to get a detailed feel for the needs of this type of commercial site” Comments Broughton sales manager Karl Derbyshire. “The solution we have developed is a fully integrated perimeter security system covering both pedestrian and vehicle access. The system has been designed to provide significant operational cost savings, and enhanced security, for our customers.”
