Broughton controls the crowds at Arsenal’s new Emirates Stadium
For Broughton Controls the highlight of the year in 2006 so far has been the completion of the entrance control system for Emirates Stadium, the new home of Arsenal Football Club from next season.
The final specification agreed in 2005 was the culmination of four years of development between Broughton, HOK Sport, Sir Robert McAlpine Ltd and Arsenal FC to fulfil the precise requirements of the new stadium.
All the turnstiles for the 60,000 capacity stadium were designed, manufactured and installed by Broughton. The company’s experience in stadium systems has ensured that the final design of these units maximises pedestrian throughput and safety.
Main spectator access is controlled by 104, full-height turnstiles, whilst for the access routes to the VIP levels of the Emirates Stadium, which incorporate premium class seating, corporate boxes and catering facilities, Broughton provided 28 prestige, stainless steel, half-height turnstiles and 13 automatic glazed pedestrian gates.
For Broughton, this is the latest in a series of major stadium projects that includes systems for Manchester United, The City of Manchester Stadium, Olympiakos and the majority of the English Premier League grounds.
