Launched at Counter Terror 2013, Broughton’s new interchangeable H.V.M. Barrier Family; the 940i series, not only generated huge interest and by all accounts is set to change the way high security sites are designed, but also won finalist position for innovation in the CTX 2013 Excellence awards.
The Broughton development programme has produced a truly unique new Hostile Vehicle Mitigation solution. Setting new industry standards the 940i seriesoffers features available from no other H.V.M. range giving brand new user benefits:
- A simple arm change, on site, allows the same barrier unit to offer a selection of impact ratings to stop vehicles from 3.5 to 7.5 tonnes and across a range of vehicle speeds. This means the threat analysis doesn’t need to be complete until after installation, removing a common installation schedule delay. This also means that post commissioning, should the threat change there is no need to change equipment, or worse replace costly foundations or infrastructure.
- Arm changing takes only 20 minutes and the barrier design isolates any impact from the barrier operating mechanism! Should an impact occur the barrier can be back in operation almost immediately removing the usual prolonged site vulnerability in this situation
Employing Broughton’s innovative ‘composite cassette’ boom arm technology combining strength with lightness allows the speed of operation to handle high traffic flows. In addition a shallow foundation design, and the ability to cater for road widths in excess of 6m makes the 940i series ideal for installation into both existing entrance layouts and new applications with minimal fuss, work, time, and cost.
The entire 940i series are fully tested to PAS68:2010 with some of the family already PSSA Verified and the remainder in the process of being Verified; all are therefore suitable for the most demanding military, justice, border and highest security industrial sites.
